Who Am I?

Hi Everyone and welcome to my blog …

Let’s see, who am I? I’m a 28 year-old .NET developer living in San Diego. I’m from right outside D.C. and went to the University of Maryland College Park where I majored in CS.

I’ve been married about two years to my wife Stacey and we’re the proud puppy-parents of a great black lab mutt named Bailey (what up Bai!).

What else… I’ve been working with ASP.NET for the past 7 years pretty much since it came out and recently was a team developer for a kick ass public web site: ShowCase.

I also just finished writing a book called Advanced ASP.NET AJAX Server Controls for .NET Framework 3.5 with colleagueAdam Calderon. Take a look at the table of contents if you use ASP.NET AJAX because the title does a little bit of a disservice to some of the more general ASP.NET AJAX details.

I guess that’s about. Enjoy the blog. Hopefully, there are some useful things on it that help you solve a problem. If you have any questions or want to contact me you can contact me through the blog as the messages go to my main email box.

  1. Hi there
Just wanted to say thank you for your post regarding app_init bug in ASP.NET AJAX. I’ve been struggling with the exact same thing for quite some time now (actually also for a mapping application) and had the same stubbornness. Actually I could imagine writing the exact same blogpost if I hadn’t stumbled upon your post but someday finally realized what was going on (again someone else on my team who was not as stubborn discovered that something was not right with app_init which led us to your blog).
I also share your disappointment over the combine-scripts properties that doesn’t help us component developers much (our API actually fully supports the toolkit’s combine script though).

Keep up the good posts, and if you ever want to do some more API and mapping work on ASP.NET, let me know – we could use more people like you and we aren’t that far from San Diego.

  3. Hi Morten and Nikhil,

First, your welcome and thanks for the vote of confidence!

I’m glad that you found the blog post, although maybe a few days and a few headaches later than you would’ve liked, and it was useful.

I’ll keep writing them! Hopefully, I’ll keep discovering gold nuggets of information to write about. πŸ™‚

    – Joel
